Looking for the best hostels in Kuala Lumpur? I just returned from a trip backpacking through Malaysia! Yes I know this is a Thailand Backpacking blog, but with many travellers going through the popular hub of Kuala Lumpur, I thought I would share the best hostels I found in this amazing city.

So here it is, the Best Hostels in Kuala Lumpur

1) Dorms KL 2best hostels in kuala lumpur

If you are looking for a good hostel where its set up in a way to easily meet other backpackers, than Dorms KL 2 is the place to for you. In fact, it was my favorite hostel in KL for this reason. Personally I’m not into crazy party hostels, rather I enjoy really social hostels that you can meet people to go explore with and grab meals/drinks. Dorm KL 2 is perfect for this. I met many people and really enjoyed my stay here. They’ve got air con, wi-fi, excellent location (close to the big street food market), and most importantly, lots of great common areas. Highly recommend Dorms KL 2 for your stay in Kuala Lumpur!

2) Paper Plane Hostel

The Paper Plane Hostel has a cool, modern vibe to it with artwork on the walls. Definitely a very comfortable place to stay. For socializing, they’ve got a decent-sized common room plus a rooftop. Location is great as its in the Bukit Bintang area, which is a very central part of Kuala Lumpur and has a lot of interesting places to visit. Of course there is good air con and wi-fi in all rooms. On top of that, the staff is warm and welcoming. If comfort is top of mine, the Paper Plane Hostel is a good choice to stay.

3) Step Inn too Hostelstep in too best hostels kuala lumpur

If you are looking for a little more of a party hostel vibe, then check out Step Inn too Hostel. It is quite easy to meet others here, and many of the backpackers are looking for others to have drinks with. While its not a crazy party place, it does have some elements of it. So if you are more into chill hostels, might be best to look elsewhere. But for those of your who want to play some drinking games and hit the bars with fellow travelers, then Step Inn too Hostel is good for that.

4) Backhome KLkuala lumpur best hostels

Next up is Backhome KL hostel, a place aimed at backpackers seeking comfort. Their beds are comfortable, which is a rarity in Asia. As well, the hostel is kept very clean and they keep the air conditioning on all day. To makes things even better, the staff at this hostel are very friendly and accommodating, always eager to help their guests. Location is great, close to lots of restaurants and street food. For the coffee drinkers, there is a nice cafe attached to the hostel. To top it all off, Backhome KL is pretty inexpensive so staying there won’t break the bank.

5) Sunshine Bedz KLsunshine bedz kl best hostels kuala lumpur

Last but not least is Sunshine Bedz KL, a super social hostel in the Bukit Bintang area. Its quite easy to meet other travellers here as this hostel has a reputation for it. And many of the guests end up going out together in the evening. In contrast, the amenities are a bit bare-bones. But they do keep the place pretty clean. The wifi is really good and the communal area has many books to read as you like. Location is great with lots of food and bars in the area. All this makes Sunshine Bedz is a solid place to stay.

There you have it, these are the best hostels in Kuala Lumpur. If you are looking for the best price on hostels, we highly recommend booking through Agoda.com as they are always the cheapest option compared to any other site!
